Wanna Buy A Ghost
The video is almost 2 years old but seems as fresh to me even now as it was when I first viewed it. Enjoy :)

New Microphones For EVP - Shure SM58S

Much of acquiring audio equipment for paranormal use is experimentation and I've had my share of growing pains while researching for the right tools during investigation.
I, like most others that have pursued this field with passion, started off with a digital recorder but once investigations led to large historical places over 6000 square feet, my effectiveness dwindled in covering large areas for audio.
In 2008, I stepped into a world few others experimented with hoping to increase my chances of catching these unexplained anomalies people know as EVP by using a mixing board, XLR cabling, phantom powered condenser microphones wired to a professional grade analog recorder.
Admittedly, part of it was sheer laziness because I loathed listening the many hours of ambient hiss from multiple digital audio recorders. In this new methodology, all I needed was to monitor and review one source file for an investigation yet have four areas recorded as much as 100 feet from one another if need be.
Yes I achieved results but this unknown territory reminded me of a blind man, finding a black cat in the dark. After more than a year I stumbled upon an audio engineer that has actively researched audio anomalies since 1995 and according to his studies, a correlation has been revealed with EVP and EMF.
His name is David Rountree located out of New Jersey and has a team called SPIRIT. David approaches this field with scientific experimentation in mind and has a vast arsenal of recording devices and microphones at his disposal. From his research, dynamic microphones would appear to be the most conducive choice for EVP recordings.
After buying 4 cardioid condensers that essentially were ill suited for EVP work I humbly admitted to myself that another approach for the sake of research was needed. It turns out, the condensers can still be used as a control for sound driven captures and frankly I've always leaned towards Aural Voice Phenomena despite it's rareness.
In 2010, now with 6 external microphones, our team will have more than our handsful experimenting and if these new ones work out I can see purchasing more. I'll keep you posted on my results but it might take some time since February is our first scheduled investigation for 2010.
